In the Goodwill-Easter Seals YouthBuild program, student earn their GED while gaining carpentry work skills and certifications that are transferable to a variety of employment options and/or college enrollment goals. Youth between the ages of 16-24 work to build affordable housing in their communities while developing leadership skills and working towards personal goals. This comprehensive program also includes job readiness classes, case management, peer support, cultural and recreational events and activities, and job placement services. The program offers a strong focus on building youth leadership skills through training, decision making, and community involvement, while instilling the importance of service. YouthBuild offers students 12 months of follow-up services and support after they complete the program.
Job Summary :
Assist in teaching youth the necessary knowledge and skills to remain safe in the construction skills lab and on construction sites, including teaching of the core skills and knowledge found in our carpentry curriculum. Provide instruction to students using our job readiness curriculum content and provide supportive guidance and encourage the development of leadership skills. Create and foster business partner relationships to receive feedback for our program and to provide YouthBuild completers with job opportunities. Provide follow up and placement services to youth who have completed the program.
