Boat-building Apprenticeship
The apprenticeship program is a paid job training opportunity where Twin Cities youth develop technical woodworking skills, social and emotional skills, and a connection to local waterways.
The program hires youth 16-19 who qualify as low-income and/or have employment barriers and they have the option to participate from 3 – 12 months. The winter apprenticeship runs from September 25 – January 17.
- Technical: safe tool use, measurement, wood species identification
- Social & Emotional: receiving feedback, cultivating a growth mindset, working within a diverse team
- Career Readiness: offsite field trips to work sites & college campuses, mock interviews, resume writing, financial literacy, goal setting
